Nina Fraser creates artworks that utilize the tension between parameters – the boundaries between the inner realm and the projected outer world. Working in a range of media including collage, painting, assemblage and sculpture, the artist seeks to question notions of memory and place, exposing the fragility of our constructed reality. Embodying the attitude of a bricoleur, she explores the possibilities of her immediate landscape through what already exists, has been overlooked or undervalued. Central to Nina’s practice is a quest for metaphorical and material transformation through a subconscious detachment to the pre-assumed symbols of consumer paraphernalia found in everyday life.

Nina graduated in Textile Art from Winchester College of Arts (UK) in 2006 and emigrated to Portugal in 2014. She attended the artist residency program at MArt, in Lisbon (2015 -17). Exhibitions include: TAXIS DERMA, Museum of Natural Science and History, Lisbon, Portugal (2019); Qual Paisagem, Livraria Sá da Costa – Galeria, Lisbon, Portugal (2019); Sublime, Mute, Lisbon, Portugal (2019); Big Village Small World, Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin, Ireland (2018); The Skin I Live, Palazzo Penna Civic Museum, Perugia, Italy (2018); and Campanha, Casa-Museu Medeiros e Almeida, Lisbon, Portugal (2016). She teaches various art practices Internationally.
