Born in 1983 in Mumbai, India, Karishma D’Souza studied at Goa University and M.S. University of Baroda. She currently lives and works in Lisbon. Inspired by her personal experiences, Karishma D’Souza’s work depicts the gap between the different groups in Indian society.
Moving from poetical and political messages, Karishma’s art is the perfect balance between being a committed artist and a witnessing storyteller. Her use of luminous colours and thoughtful repetition of symbols imprints her canvases and drawings, leading the viewer into a poetic world where the personal and the broader narrative intertwine.
She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and internationally, including at Atelier Concorde in Lisbon, Xippas Galerie in Paris, and Tao Art Gallery in Mumbai. Her artworks are part of the Chada Art Collection (KRC), Utrecht Central Museum, and Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten.
